and you access gmail on the phone. Check out this discussion: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=62077c5f41b7cf17&hl=en

(I realize most of you don't have WM6 phones, but if you do this might be useful. Just in case you think your battery is having problems or the phone is acting up.)

Apparently changes Google made to their email system on 5/19/11 is causing WM6 phones to use full cpu since the tmail application hangs when polling a gmail account.

Yeah, it's a PITA. I ended up creating Yahoo accounts so I could forward my Gmail stuff to them as Yahoo IMAP still works.

This is actually a grim reminder that most smartphones arent really designed to run at full speed for very long.

Thanks for posting this. I've all of a sudden been having battery problems and needing to soft reboot a lot because the power button wont work. I'll try disabling automatic checking on my 2 gmail accounts to see if that's the problem.

I didnt say modern.
Old Palms and such have the same issue even with 100mhz processors.

i'm inclined to disagree...i've played 2-3 hours of 3d games on my phone without any issue. it does get warm, but it is perfectly stable

Oh no most of them are stable.
But many can get super hot if not forced to cool.
