If your country had a civil war, where would you flee?

If your country had a civil war and your side is losing badly and you had to flee for your safety, where would you go? Lets limit it to only places you can walk to or if swimming, swim a short distance to. No getting on an airliner and flying somewhere or a cruise ship and sailing.

Since I'm in California, I'm not sure if I would survive going north past all the fighting in Oregon and Washington. And if I did make it to Canada, I'm not sure I would survive the winter there in a refugee camp. So I'm going to try going south to Ecuador, Costa Rica, and maybe Belize.

Being in St. Louis, I'm not sure where I'd go. Probably head towards Texas, then to the border. As much as I think I'd prefer Canadian refugee status of being in Mexico, I can't help but think I'd rather be stranded somewhere warm.

The thread title should be called, "Would you rather live in Canada or Mexico?"

or better yet, just...

"Would you move to Canada if you had the chance?"

Might hop a boat to Cuba for grins and giggles.

Have spoken with a few people that living in Costa Rica that were visiting here and it doesn't sound bad, but a bit unorthodox of course.

Would be a long haul from here though.

Not sure why an airliner or a ship in general wouldn't be an option though.

aruba.

i'd make my way down through mexico to south america then swim there from venezuela.

yeah i'm sure that is doable.

Look, all I meant by that is that if there was a revolution in this country I would not side with the nutballs who started it. I'd side with law and order and sanity. It was an off the cuff response to a stupid question.

Germany, obviously. It's not that close to the US, but neither is Syria and that isn't stopping many of them.

at the direction Venezuela is going, I'm not sure if they have any supplies left to take in refugees.
They have no supplies period. They're coming to Trinidad for supplies.

Heading north to Grenada and Barbados isn't an option because they won't be able to handle the influx of refegees.

Guyana might be a good option though.

If the USA has a civil war Canada probably wouldn't be safe. I'd go to Australia, the women are hot and they like American men.

Stay and fight or contribute to a side at least - provided I agree with one of the sides.

The closest conflict I see occurring in the US is militias / anarchists going up against the government. But, that is already like 1 to 100,000 in terms of persons and resources. The militias / anarchists would lose - unless they REALLY get their numbers, resources and personnel up.

Depends what it was over. If it's, say, a bunch of religious people slaughtering "infidels", I'd stay and fight 'em.

If it was the people rallying against the corruption, I'd stay and fight along side 'em.

Of course, that is if my boy is able to actually do something...Which I bloody wish it was.

I'd probably head over to Ireland. If that gets fucked...I 'unno, Finland? France? Gotta abide by 'em immigration laws, even if the middle eastern guys refuse to; pick the nearest safe country and live there.

Wait so to the op California to "Ecuador, Costa Rica, and maybe Belize" is just a short walk...( ~1000 hrs of walking)

Given where I currently am I would likely go to Canada.
