I can personally say that I've had a boss that was gay. No, he didn't have any of the gay sterotypes (lisp, limp wristed, fashionable, etc). In fact, if you met him on the street, you'd think he was a biker dude because of his build and whatnot.

My boss is gay and i dont think anything of it. He sometimes says stuff that creeps me out but generally speaking he is a cool guy.

I had a boss that was gay. He actually was an incredible manager. He had the compassion of a female, but the bluntness of a male.

It was a combination that worked great for his position.

Deal with it? What's there to deal with?
Well, would you have any problems taking orders from a gay person?

What if one of your co-workers is also gay and he recieves a promotion before you? Would you call it special treatment?
why the fvck would i have any problems with it? Only time i see is if he orders me to suck him off or such.

man gay phobia must suck eh? how do you survive.
Haha, no I'm not a homophobe as you suggest.

I'm just trying to get a feel for what ATOT thinks. That is the point of asking questions. Not everyone thinks alike. ;)

Deal with what??? There's nothing to 'deal with' unless the person is hitting on you or something...and then you handle it the same as any other expressed interest, you pursue it or you decline. *shrug*

In my wife's new position, she has a boss that is gay and a good friend. I met him last week, he seemed to a nice guy. The wife says he is excelling at his job.

WOW

QFT, the fact that one's boss is gay should be a mute point.
Unless the boss in question starts doing things like quoted above, but then its the boss that is making it an issue.

Um, wtf is a "mute" point

That's a hard question, but it deserves a straight answer. You might say that you'd need to swallow it and take it like a man, but bending over and taking it just isn't the answer. I'd tell him to shove it.

It's something he should make, by not saying anything next time until he takes some English classes.

sexual insecurity and bigotry. That's the only reasons I can think of.

I'd smack his ass from time to time... not.

It would not effect me at all...it is just a 9-5 job, that is it, not my life.

Why would this ever be an issue? Sexual orientation has nothing to do with someone's ability as a manager or as a professional.

This thread is actually surprising, I can't count on one hand the number of coworkers I have that I know would have an issue with a gay coworker.

How would I "deal with it"? By respecting his privacy and right to make a personal choice and not giving a shite.

Up until last week I had a gay boss for about 2.5 years. He was not a flamer. He was quite the older statesman/gentleman type. In fact, he was a brilliant man when it came to many subjects, especially international relations, art history, European history, and foreign languages. In the end, we got along like grandpa and grandson as he often called me. He never made a move on me, nor was I ever concerned that he would. All in all, a very positive experience.

I'm not sure why it would make any difference unless he made a move on me, at which point it was be plain ol' sexual harassment and him being gay still really doesn't have anything to do with it.
