When I have to open a pdf it's usually because I'm desperate and in a hurry to find something. I don't want to risk having to wait 5 minutes for an update and possibly be prompted to restart my computer. So I always hit cancel.

Again, Acrobat is the culprit, not PDF. A lot of people here (me included) use Foxit Reader.

you guys keep referring to PDFs being bad but what's the better alternative? I think PDFs are great if you're using a good OCR software and a fast reader, otherwise it's misery and loading of pages is SOOO SLOW, DRM sucks, but aside from that I like them.
