CCCP (free download) will enable silky smooth 720p and 1080p .mkv playback on most systems (yours certainly will) when you use the Zoomplayer, MPC, WMP, etc. VLC is not a very efficient player.

Maybe it's not accurate, but whenever I'm fixing a middle eastern dudes computer, they all seem to have a ton of RM files on their desktop. Is Realplayer big in Jordan? I swear I come across one a week who's PC is infested with RM files.

Seriously people.....stop freaking sending out documents in office '07 format. Large corporations are notoriously slow in retooling their productivity apps.
I hate having to constantly reply back to all the consultants that we work with asking them for a conventional .doc format.
Surely you can't be serious...Click Me.
I vote to remove ASF files. I love PDF files and MOV area great, too.![]()

It is more a package for files than a format itself though.
I hate deciphering what codec a AVI used, there are some really odd ones out there.
If the creators of avi had their way MP3 would mean mp3, ac3, flac, wav, pcm and anything else that made a sound.

So you'd want your movies to come as .divx.mp3 or .motionjpeg.ac3?

Yes . Then I would know what I can use to play it without having to strip out the four cc code and hunt for a codec. Divx is a good example. If I have a dvd player that is divx certified and the media creator uses the certified profile, I know it will always play.
Adding the audio format would not be required as each video standard already has an accepted audio standard .
AVI has allowed people to use whatever they feel like and hope the other party can play it.
