If you worked in a highrise... would you keep a parachute under your desk..?

I would.

It'd just be like base jumping...but the landing would be super tough seeing how you could land right into a high voltage wire or right into the middle of a busy intersection.

I wonder what chance you would have getting off the building alone. Imagine trying to don a parachute with a crowd of desperate, about to die people watching you. :D

No kidding TRUMPHENT. Now that i'd have to see. You'd get torn apart by the other people who wanted the chute.

Not a regular chute no, but a base-jumper's pack, ONLY if I was on say the 100th floor, anything lower would be as risky as jumping without the bloody thing..

what is the difference between a chute and a base-jumper's pack?

is it that a base-jumper's pack has that little chute that is open from the beginning. and then the little chute pulls out the real chute when you jump. I am sorry that I don't know any of the correct terms.

The bae jumper chute I use is only about 3metres long, and 1.5-2 metres wide, whereas my regular chute is about 4.5-5 metres long, and around 2.5-3 metres wide.

Imagine being the only guy jumping out of a recently attacked building with a parachute. You might want to throw on a shirt that says "I DID IT!" before you jump just to make it extra exciting. I'm sure the FBI will be there to catch you :)

Yeah, that's all well and good on a "good day"

What about the day when the building is on fire and collapsing around you?

I think it'd be worthless with all the debris and funky air currents.

Most high rises are sealed and you would need to get to the top area. IF you do not have enough altitude, the chute will not work to slow down your initial momentum (check your specs)

What are you going to use for crowd control as you attempt to gain access to the roof? Which unbreakable window are you gonna try to bust out? And with what? Your computer? In some situations, you just as well had better kiss your a$$ goodbye, smile benignly, and say a prayer or two. Or three...

To tell you the truth. Yes... even if I was below the 100th floor. I would carry a friggin umbrella or something... cause if that is my only shot, you just increased your chances by 15-25%.
