If you were wondering, it's a bad idea to have your computer fall from the bed

I was installing a combination card reader/fan controller in a 5.25" bay when I went to the closet to get a manual. The case, which I had stupidly placed on the bed, decided to take a nose dive onto the floor. The door fell off (it's not bolted or anything, didn't break), but everything else seemed ok, at least until I turned it on.

Well, I think I futzed with the motherboard in some way because the BIOS is acting strangely, and then the system will randomly power off or not power on at all. It will turn on, so the PSU works, but it just sits there without displaying or POSTing.

Ordered a new mobo for overnight delivery (I love having two computers), but don't you hate it when your stupidity costs you money? Of course, it came at a really bad time because I leave on Saturday for 5 weeks, and the wife would kill me if she didn't have a computer (the 2nd one is coming with me, it's a SFF with an LCD).

A bad end to an otherwise good holiday weekend.

Been tinkering with computers since my Apple II+. How about you? 😉

Not new, just momentarily stupid. Of course, this is making me think about getting another SFF computer instead of the big tower since I don't really use the extra expansion.
