Moving into the 3rd floor is a bitch, but once you're moved in it's nice. You'll usually have vaulted ceilings as a result of being on the top and no one above you to listen to all day and night.

I've lived in a third-floor apartment in a 3-story building for the past year or so.
moving in sucked. we also don't have any couches because of the effort required to carry them up and brind them back down whenever we move.
if I were looking for an apartment today, I'd probably look for a first-floor apartment (assuming it's set back from the street). if the front door in your living room opens right out onto the street, I'd go with the second floor.
