That would be a great Idea, but I soon will be going to PCIe. So I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money and still be able to play current games.

That's why I need to know which is better.

Depends on the price of the two cards... if they are the same money I'd go for the 6800XT & try to unlock it.. even if it won't, the performance s/b about the same as a 6600GT, but I'd also shop around for an X800GTO because it can also often be flashed into an X850XT & again if it doesn't work, oc'ed it should be faster then either of the other two.

The 6800XT and the 6600GT are both priced the same. These are for the AGP versions. So that's 3 votes for XT and 1 for GT. Anyone else have an opinion?

didnt know the 6800XT can be unlocked....

i also heard it was cheaper and its easier to OC.

so my vote goes to 6800XT!

CKXP, thanks. The only thing I see wrong with the review is that it's for the PCIe version, which has 256MB of DDR3. So I wonder will the AGP version still be faster?

I think the AGP version is 128mb's but with this level of card that won't make a huge difference, like I said worst-case it should be at least as fast as the 6600GT & if it unlocks it will be considerably faster.

6800XT, but to be on the safe side it would be a good idea to upgrade your PSU, if your only getting 18A on the 12V. This is also a good excuse to upgrade your case too.

Weren't you the guy about to spend $300+ on a 6800GS from the UK? Just get a $280 6800GT from newegg or a $250 X850XT from microcenter... If you don't have the cash for that at the moment, save up a bit, the 6800GT or the X850XT would blow either of those cards away.

No, I never said anything about buying from overseas. Altho I did point them out as a reference to prove they will exist. I wouldn't be so ignorant to buy a GS for $300 when I could get a GT for $289.

OK, no insult intended... Just wondering. Like I said though, I would suggest skipping both the 6600GT and the 6800XT, and saving up for either the 6800GT or the X850XT. More expensive, but much better cards.
