If you were to buy all your computer parts from one store, where would it be?

Another vote for Newegg.

If you're not sure about an online store, go to "Reseller Ratings.com" and check the ratings for any store you are interested in buying from.

Not always the lowest prices, but IMHO, the best service.

Another good one is buy.com, but they don't have everything you need to build a computer.

I wish it was right down the street. So I can get the parts the minute I need them, and have hands-on ability to test various components. However that doesn't exist around here (unless you are willing to pay 10 times the on-line price for 6 months dated equipment).

Since that ideal doesn't exist, I need to go online. However every place has its own advantages/disadvantages. One place might carry cheap CPU's, another carries cheap RAM, etc. So I don't think I will ever restrict myself to just one online place.

And the answer is...(drumroll please)...

NEWEGG!

(...gee, what a surprise...)

Seriously. They stock everything (parts wise-they don't carry many printers or digital cameras or any complete systems, but they have 200 different video cards or so, and equivalent amount of choices for motherboards, processors, sound cards, monitors, cases, etc.), have a great website with pictures of the products, reviews, and detailed descriptions, so you know exactly what you are going to get, ship within a day of you placing your order, take back returns with no problem, are usually within 5% of the lowest Price Watch price from some scumbag, don't overcharge on shipping, pack things correctly, and have a 9.48 (out of 10) on Reseller Ratings, with 1400+ ratings. You CANNOT get better than this.

Outpost.com

I hate Newegg. They've screwed up many of my orders. They've sent me the wrong item then told me I had to pay return shipping to get the correct item. They play games with their shipping prices. They don't offer real next-day delivery. They have a processing time involved that ends up making next day turn into three days. And worst of all, someone there stole my CC number and charged thousands of dollars to it.

BTW, I've never bothered to post anything at ResellerRatings. I figure it a place like Newegg is so highly rated, then the ratings are screwed up.

I've built a few systems for buddies of mine where I got all the parts from Newegg. The only thing I can complain about is their fan selection, but meh, I can order from SVC if I need specialized fans.

First choice - NewEgg. 2nd choice, Multiwave. Have done extensive business with both over the past years. For mobos and CPUs, Multiwave has easier to comprehend bundles. But, technically, to answer your question "WHERE" - it would be in California. :)
