I find it much more fun when you're not rich to pick up a girl in a crazy nice car. That way if she's a gold digger you'll know, but since you're not actually rich you won't care and can still probably get laid. All it takes is a friend who has one and will let you borrow it. My Ex boss let me drive his Bentley Azure a few times, girls were throwing themselves at me thinking it was my ride and I was uber rich.

I think that's probably going too far. I mean, if you show up in a heap of shit, it doesn't just scream "I have no money" but I don't work much, I've had some issues in the recent past like a few arrests or a substance abuse problem that left me bankrupt, my credit is so bad I can't get a loan for a decent car, if you think my car is nasty wait until you see my house (e.g. hoarding), and so on.

A lot of women aren't gold diggers but there is nothing wrong with wanting someone who has a decent job, a decent income, decent credit, if even modest. A 10 year-old Honda Accord or other sensible transportation will weed-out the real gold diggers without scaring away the sane ones who just want a responsible/respectable person.
