If you were going to rearrange the AT forum categories, how would you do it?

General Hardware would change to just "Hardware", you'll see why in a sec.
AT Articles would be gone. No one posts there. If you really want to talk about articles, post in OT.
Operating Systems moves to Software.
For Sale/Trade is unchanged
Hot Deals is unchanged
Off topic is unchanged
Highly Technical is dispersed - the topics go into whatever category the subject matter applies to.
Cases & Cooling goes to Hardware
CPUs& Overclocking goes to Hardware.
Distributed Computed is unchanged.
Motherboards moves to hardware
Networking moves to hardware/software depending on the particular issue.
Periphreals moves to hardware.
Software (now also containing OSes) is split into "Games (PC both PC and Console)" and all other software, programming, and operating systems.
Tech support is trashed. The whole forum is tech support, we don't need a tech support forum.
video moves to hardware
Forum issues is unchanged.

So, in the end we have:
Hardware
For Sale/Trade
Hot Deals
Off Topic
Distributed Computing
Games
Software, Operating Systems, and Programming
Forum Issues

I think that would work better. Less posts being ignored by being posted in motherboards when someone who knows the answer is reading CPUs, etc.

How would you set it up?

Before or after we got rid of you? 🙂

I always thought the hardware forums should be combined too.
how often do you see "I know it should be posted ____ but this gets more hits"

I'd arrange it like that too.
 
I'd take you idea, but I'd also add an 'idiot' section. Idiots are locked in this area and can not clutter the rest of the forum 😉

Your suggestion sounds alot better than anyting I can come up with, and I would definitely be on board. The mods will issue their line though - "It wont be happening". 😉

I never understood why the need for so many forums. Most people only post in 2-3 regularly, so you are basically chopping up the AT population and dispersing it amongst different forums. Most forums aren't busy at all, so there is no reason not to combine some of them.

Of course the mods/admin/Zuni will say "It's not going to happen." but I think there is enough interest to warrant a new forum which would be a sub-forum of Hardware:

Mobile Computing (or Laptops/PDA)
