If you were a superhero

Would you opt to separate your alter-ego from your private life or would you live out in the open like Tony Stark/Ironman? Lets say unlike Batman, you don't have any fame, fortune or recognition if you chose the former but you obviously would if you choose the latter. And like all reputable superheros, you have a weakness which leaves you exposed if you choose to be recognized. What powers you have are irrelevant for the sake of argument.

If I had powers I'd take over a part of the country and declare a new government. I would have cities vote for a representative and a deputy. Amongst these cities they will vote for one of these to be the rep for the region, and finally the region would vote amongst those candidates for the presidency. After they have stabilized and are able to arm themselves. I would repeat the process adding another governing head to be voted upon when the population under this format exceeds an accountable size for representation.

Depends on what my weakness is. If it's something that is easily attacked then obviously I would stay secret.

Masked is better, but it still leads to people searching for you, and often you will be persecuted for vigilantism.

Best option is to be a superhero who is never seen by anyone.

Failing that, I would rather be Stark/Iron Man. I would want to be held accountable - too much power might corrupt me.

Yes, but it seriously depends on what the weakness is, and how it could be exploited. If I'm Superman, Kryptonite is pretty much it. With his level of technology, building a detector and radiation suit shouldn't be much of a problem. Once you have all the Kryptonite safely hidden, no reason to worry.
