If you were a Cop, would you hassle a person for a plate...

that said this.

I really am wondering because the thread about getting a ticket and the earlier one made me wonder. Maybe I should change it. :Q

*Disclaimer* I am not wearing tennis shoes with a tux. That was damage to that part of the picture when I scanned it.

Really though I got the tag because of Dana Carvey who was a Klepotmaniac in the movie "Lost in Paradise." A friend dared me to and the DMV approved it. Every time I got a ticket in my hometown(8,000) and I had about 8 of them, the judge told me to change my plate. I was defiant. I guess I shouldn't have been. I really didn't think it was a deliberate fsck you to cops.

I don't think that it's very inconspicuous, that's for certain.

Oh Disclaimer that is where the bottom of the pic was damaged. I was wearing the shoes that I got with the tux.

What authority does a police officer have over your license plate? I thought that was decided elsewhere..wherever you register cars & get license plates. I can't remember the official name - I was at work @ 7am today, and I need sleep :eek:

Read here. Many of the complaints about license plates came from cops. Don't think for a second that if you plates say something remotely incriminating that the cop is going to turn a blind eye.

Yes but I don't steal things. I never have and never will. What I thought was a joke at the time(hey I was 16) was actually a Fvck You to cops and I didn't know it.

Some do. I was pulled over several times in other areas and the cops laughed their asses off.

BTW, did you see that most of the plates on TSMG were trying to be banned for dumb reasons or weren't meant to be offensive. And on others the DMV told the cop that it wasn't his job to worry about plates.

But hey the ones I ran into obviously didn't. If I get pulled over again in the new area I live I will ask if it bothers them. If it does I will change it.

If the DMV allows it it's legal so technically they shouldn't be able to do anything. California had one slip past that they later had to recall, 4NIC8

keep the plate simple like 123 abc, standard plate, i was talking to an officer the other day asked how do you pick which vehicle to pull over,if like 5 are going same speed by you.
Red cars,tinted windows,vanity plates, giant decals,loud music or Loud exhaust..;and banged up cars,{accident prone,LOL}
he said if he sees a car thats more than 2 of the above he watches them for a while...:(
he said his pet peeve is a car with illegally tinted windows, e.g. he cant see into the car,and people
who don't pull over when the lights are flashing, these are automatic Danger signals,and makes
the Police nervous...

when i had my red '72 monte carlo i got pulled over like 5 times in 3 months,{mildly tinted rear windows,tuff to see into}
not once in 6 years in my Black '67 Camaro...
here is a pic this year of my camaro

I think I understand the "need" for vanity plates, hence the name "Vanity". But I still cannot understand why anyone would want to put a license plate on their car that instantly identifies that car to them. Vanity plates are MUCH easier to remember vs. the standard plate, and I really don't need the police or an irate driver to have "instant recall" about my vehicle.

Cop sees someone mildly interesting but the 547GDV plate is a bit harder to memorize and remember vs. KLEPTO. Why would you want to put something like that out there? Guess a flashing neon sign may be worse, but only slightly.
