If you wear a baseball/peaked cap indoors you're a massive douchebag.

i don't really have an issue with people wearing them inside, however if you are inside to eat TAKE YOUR FUCKING HAT OFF

when i was in HS the pro hat morons did a walkout because they objected to the school enforcing the no hats in class rule

Really?

I cannot imagine ever thinking "you know, the school is retarded for telling us we can't wear hats while in class."
Ever single year of school, from K-12, we couldn't wear hats in the buildings. Obviously the university was a different story, but not once could we get away with hats in class while still in the lower grades.

As far as hats in bars and similar places, I think many people can equate a bar with the same respectful rules as just being outside.

But damn, people wearing hats at restaurants? Can nobody think back about how in the old days such a thing used to be disrespectful? I know this, and I never saw even the early '80s.
Maybe we're getting to a point that society just doesn't give a shit about what people in the first decades of the century thought about anything.

yes i thought the same thing but amazingly enough people did it that less then 50% of the students were actually at school for those days, and because of some law when the school has less then 50% attendance they don't get state funding for that day or some crap, The school caved and let people wear hats in the hallways but not class.

I see what you're saying now. I really don't have a problem with people wearing caps in most situations. Eating at the table, national anthem, etc. are some of those situations where it is not acceptable. Having a bunch of people over at my house drinking beer and watching the football game? I couldn't care less what you're wearing on your head while sitting on my couch.

Baseball caps are perfectly acceptable indoors in most situations. More formal situations like a dinner or such it obviously is not. But if you just go out for an informal dinner at some basic restaurant or out having some drinks at the bar, totally acceptable.

Now what really makes a douchebag is posting on ATOT using the name GodlessAstronomer.

hmm. maybe in NZ. around here it's perfectly acceptable. i mean i'd never wear one @ work or to a nice restaurant... but...

like foghorn67 said... u don't wanna see my hat hair after i've been wearing a hat for even 5 mins.

and LOL Capt Caveman... exactly

its frowned upon in NZ because NZ is about 50 years behind the times. By frowned upon, I mean whined about.

Times have changed.

People don't wear suits on airplanes anymore.

People don't take their hats off indoors or in the presence of women.

Get used to it.

I wear a sweat suit, a flat-billed baseball cap and sunglasses on airplanes ON THE REG. Suck it, fuckers.

What about the idiots who wear sunglasses at night?

The sun never sets on a badass.

Also, I have no problem wearing a baseball cap inside if I'm running an quick errand and have one on for whatever reason. I'm not going to take it off, and hold it while I shop for 15 minutes, then put it on when I get outside.. that's just foolish. I would never wear one out for a sit down dinner, or to any sort of remotely formal event. A baseball cap inside for the most informal of events, though, is no biggie if you were already wearing one. I guess if you wear it simply as a fashion accessory, then it's slightly douchey.

The attitude of casual dress is worthy of a separate thread. I don't mind what anyone wears if they are running to the store or picking up their kids. It does seem lazy and immature to dress like a slob if you are anywhere in public for more than an hour.

Oh, the hat thing is dependent on the locale. If you are in a formal setting with a baseball cap on, you are instantly labeled as a douchebag. The backwards or double-billed hat scores bonus points.

A big F*ck you to people complaining about people wearing hats indoors. I grew up with an autoimmune disease that made my hair fall out in patches. I got tons of shit for it from kids at school and random people as well. So I started wearing a hat indoors. Then people start giving me shit about wearing a hat... "oooh, is it hot in here? why are you wearing a hat? take your hat off". Scarred for life.

F*ck off.

Wearing sunglasses indoors is a douchebag-stamp in my book though.

I wear a baseball cap (I have around a dozen) whenever I go anywhere not work related, just because I am usually too lazy to spend 30 minutes doing my hair or whatever.

30 minutes to "do your hair?"

Are you a gurl? OR, are you a Justin Bieber wannabe? :p

oooh...another whine by yet another "defective."
Why wouldn't people, especially kids, question/make fun of a kid who "loses his hair in patches?"

That's certainly not within the realm of "normal."

:p

Wearing your cap backwards or to the side makes you look douchey. Other than that I have no problem with it.

I will take it off in somewhat formal settings like an office building or a court house. But in other public areas like the DMV or a deli I won't even bother. Especially if I have no place to put it down.

Ah ok over here cap = baseball/trucker/flatpeak cap. Yeah my house is cold so sometimes I wear a beanie inside during winter.

....and here is where your thread fails miserably in the sad world of hypocrisy.

You see, there is an old etiquette thing where you don't wear hats of any kind indoors. At first, I thought you were referencing that. While I might not necessarily agree with all of them (including this one), generally I'm ok with people trying to keep etiquette alive.

However, its quite clear now that you are not concerned with etiquette. You're just being a douche. Oh well, you tried.
