Do they look at job history? credit?

What are the chances of getting approved for a rental if:

*You just got a job
*Good credit.

rent from a private owner. usually just a common info app is all you fill out. money talks. show them the $$ and they will rent to you. Its all about keeping the place rented and money coming in.

I got a rental with a brand new job and less than par credit...all they did was call up my employer and employer said "yep he works here and makes a steady paycheck" and then credit check came back and showed i had no deliquent payments for a year so i got in no prob. This ended up being a pretty ghetto place though...

I got into a pretty nice place when I just got out of school... but I already had a strong credit history.

My employment offer letter served as proof of a job and income.

Like anything, credit. But then again, I don't know what kind of credit yields a lease. All I know is I haven't had any problems renting...yet. Now the landlords, that's a whole different story.

If you odn't have a steady job or good credit, they will most likrly ask for first, last months rent, security (which is sometimes double the rent), key deposits all upfront

I thought they do that whether you have a job or not.

usually first and last months rent. but no security deposit.

Depends on the landlord. I'm really picky. I'd rather have the peace of mind that my house is being taken care of, and not having to hound tenants for money.

I want a 600 credit score. 3X rent as income. Previous landlord reference, employment reference. I drive by their current residence to see how they take care of the house.
