I actually prefer it dark.
That's why I disable them. 50,000 blinking lights annoy me when I am trying to sleep. I don't even want to know how many are in my computer room. The only thing I really care about is my fileserver raid array, and there is a audio alarm that I enabled when a disk fails.

It isn't dark if you still have LED's.

Well the LED's are on 24/7/365/oo so it's as dark as it gets. 😛

TOTAL darkness isn't good either. I prefer to preserve my nightvision so I usually wear an illuminator (15 curies H3) so I always have sufficient light with me wherever I go. Most of my EDC lights kill the night vision except the Arc 4x on 16 but that usually rolls off my sill at night, hits me in the head and falls to the floor. If this happens after 3AM, I'm up for the day in most cases.I leave it in my pants pocket from now on.

On MOONLESS nights with calm seas, 99% darkness is achieved.

My router has like 10 lights blinking all the time to let me know that its working properly. I put a friggan toque over it to cover all the damn leds.

Other then that, theres only 1 led in my pc + some in my modem (which I put on standby before i go to sleep).

2 on the keyboard, one on the mouse, one on the speakers (more of a "screen" actually -- Logitech Z-680's), several on the computer, 5 on the surfboard modem, 5 on the switch, 4 on the router, three on the printer, at least 4 on my fiancee's computer, one on the linux sever I've got .... I think that's it

PS -- this is a dedicated computer room, so doesn't bother me that they're all on when I'm asleep.
