Brace yourselves!

In yet another reversal of an Obama-era policy, President Donald Trump will allow the US military to again use landmines in conflicts around the world.

According to an internal State Department cable obtained by Vox, Trump has rescinded former President Barack Obama’s 2014 directive to no longer “produce or otherwise acquire any anti-personnel landmines,” known as APLs, which are small explosive devices placed under, on, or near the ground. The cable also lifts the Obama administration’s restriction on deploying landmines outside of the Korean Peninsula.

Landmines are a particularly gruesome weapon. If a person triggers a landmine by stepping on it and survives, the severe injuries typically require the amputation of limbs or multiple operations. The International Committee of the Red Cross reports that “war surgeons consider them among the worst injuries they have to treat.”

The Landmine Monitor, a watchdog group, says that there have been roughly 130,000 casualties due to landmines between 1999 and 2018, the majority of which have been civilians.

More than 160 countries have signed on to the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty, which prohibits the use, stockpiling, production, and transfer of anti-personnel landmines. The US, however, has never signed it.

Obama’s 2014 directive restricted landmine use to just the Korean Peninsula, “to reduce humanitarian harm,” according to Rob Berschinski, who worked in the human rights office of Obama’s National Security Council.

Trump is an evil bucket of stale cum, but I don't think this is really going to amount to anything. No one is going to follow through with the "Yay! we can now distribute landmines wherever we please!" incentive that this seems to authorize.

It's essentially nothing in reality, but just more fake grist for the eternally-gaslit Trump bots that must be fed a daily diet of all the "wonderful things" that they believe their emperor is accomplishing.

Thanks Obama
You should be thanking Obama!
Do you realize how many unexploded landmines there are throughout the world?
Also you do know that they have no idea where exactly those land mines were placed.
It is not like when the military uses mines they actually have a log of the location.
Also once the military leaves they very rarely explode those landmines that they laid!
here is more information on landmines --

It is precisely because of this that we should care more. Trump's disregard for humanism and the possibility that another viewpoint is worth considering is so extreme that he takes even symbolic measures to punish those values. If we in turn assent to these symbolic measures because we know they will have no practical effect, then we choose in real ways to further relinquish our fundamental right to advocate for ourselves within our government. We must not casually dismiss and normalize Trump's actions even when we know we cannot stop them. We must be vocal in dissent and pair that with some form of action lest our dissent be no more than satisfying ourselves that we did something about it to protect ourselves from fully realizing the degree to which we have forsaken our freedoms.

Good or bad, his only policy, reverse everything Obama has done.

But how quick can the Dem POTUS reverse what this clown has done?

since almost everything he's done is by EO all it will take is one EO canceling them from the next Dem president.

Right now, it's a toss up as to who will get Trump first. The Hague for war crimes, or SDNY for all his domestic crimes. Personally, I hope it's the Hague, it will save the taxpayers the cost of a trial.

The US doesn't recognize the international court does it? The US is exceptional after all.

Well, if there's a market, then Merricuhn manufacturers should fill it. That's right. We export more death than anybody else by a country mile & we intend to keep it that way.

There are good jobs to be had at home for making products that blow off the legs of poor farmers and their children in far off lands. #MAGA
