The following pictures are of a moose that went through a car's windshield and out the rear window this month near South River, Ontario. The VERY lucky woman driver ended up with just a broken wrist and needing a good bath. When you view the pictures you will wonder how the woman managed to survive.

what i was thinking. this is really old.

someone hit a horse near my house a few years ago. i guess the horse got loose and ran across the road. i remember driving around the car seeing these brown legs sticking out the front. i thought it was a deer at 1st and then i got around to the front of the car and it was a friggin horse.

Holy hell, that's insane. Would a lot of cheap fencing and some of those under-road bridge things do the trick? I don't remember the term for them, they allow wildlife to pass under the road without getting in the way of traffic.

Here in Anchorage Alaska, moose get hit all the time, especially during the winter months. When the sun is up for just a few hours each day, alot of commuters have to drive in the dark relying on just their headlights. Moose are extremely hard to see in the dark. Their eyes don't glow, dark fur, and being dumb as stumps make it even more deadly. Then add ice and snow on the roads....

I've only been up here a year and I've seen 3 moose related accidents on my commute to work. The most common piece of advice i get from people up here if I'm in a driving situation with a moose and can't stop in time, is swerve no matter what.... Do not hit it head on or it's going to end up in your lap, especially if you're in a compact or low profile car.

I also hear that if you do run into and kill the moose, you have the option to keep your kill, but you have to skin and butcher it on the spot, otherwise there is a waiting list of people who want to be called.
