If you think there is not going to be a draft with Bush's re-election, think again.

lol, come on, who's using the "scare tactics" now. Bush has blatantly said there would be no draft. A small percentage of our military is in Iraq right now.... we certainly have more capability than what we're issuing now if absolutely needed.

Stop it with the conspiracy already.

All these people made it through the late seventies, eighties, and nineties, without a draft.. but my fvcking generation gets it. Thanks Bush

And its an election year, anything anyone says about a draft can't be trusted, because both canidates know they can't get elected if they even hint at one.

heheh if you're positive theres gonna be a draft
you better:
a. get started on looking up places to move to in Canada
b. get started on eating those bigmacs and supersized to balloon yourself big enough so the military doesn't want you.

canada wouldn't work. Read about the smart borders initiative.

Instead of eating big macs, go on the NO CARB diet for america,

where No C: Cheney.
No A: Ashcroft
No R: Rumsefeld
No B: Bush.

A "backdoor draft" is already in effect. If you sign up for the military for a set amount of time, just remember the paper that says "X" years, is meaningless - they've got you 'till they're done with you.

No polititian on either side will institute a "frontdoor draft", however. Not if they want to ever be re-elected, or want anyone who has ever associated with them to be re-elected for that matter...

LOL. backdoor draft. Part of that commies vomitous rhetoric.

When you sign, you sign for x amount of active with x amount of reserve. There is no nefarious plan to screw people into slavery. They sign the papers.

True perhaps (your needless insults aside), but I think you have to admit that STOPLOSS has had a less than positive effect on our military services, particularly with regards to declining recruitment levels. I think you could safely say that it's why a lot of people who might have otherwise joined right up are thinking twice before signing those papers.

You, sir, have obviously never been in the military. I was and I can tell you the papers you sign don't mean squat. Once you sign they have you. If they feel the need to keep you, you stay. I was scheduled to get out prior to the Gulf War 1, but had to stay until it was deemed I wasn't needed. My wife's uncle was scheduled for retirement in Sept 2001, we all know what happened then. He was told all retirements were put on hold. He spent the next 6 months waiting for word to come down that he could retire, with a stipulation that he could be called back. There have been other cases that have been reported on in newspapers and on TV, I don't have time to spell them out for you here.
