Running for office has nothing to do with it. As previously said, it's your civic duty. You never know when you might end up in court and have to be judged by your peers.
As far as not knowing how to get there, <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.mapquest.com" target=blank>Mapquest</A> is great.

Yeah, but they don't have to pay you. And the standard pay is crap. But it's not something you do for the money.
Still, if someone doesn't want to do it, I'd rather they make up an excuse than to be upset the whole time and hold a grudge.
