If you register a domain name, how long does it usually take before you can see it?

I went and created an account with 1and1.com, then a few hours later I registered www.thepouya.com. Although I think I've got the settings right (pointing thepouya.com to the crazy domain they give you when you first register), I always get a 404 error. It's now been almost 30 hours since I registered the domain. What do you guys think?

You have it pointed to the domain? Did you update the "Name Servers" like ns1.blah.com and ns2.blah.com? If you only put in www.blah.com then it won't work. You need to update the name servers so that they point to the right hosting.

hmmm...I'm not quite sure what you mean Nocturnal. I called them and they told me that I need to forward www.thepouya.com to s94883248.onlinehome.us (which is the orginal domain). Is that right?

ok, I've just double checked. As of right now, thepouya.com is being forwarded to s94883248.onlinehome.us as the tech guy told me to do so. But then I went under DNS server settings, and I found this:

DNS Check Result
Domain name thepouya.com
Name server 1 e.gtld-servers.net
Name server 2 d.gtld-servers.net
Name server 3 l.gtld-servers.net
Name server 4 b.gtld-servers.net
Name server 5 h.gtld-servers.net
Name server 6 a.gtld-servers.net
Name server 7 g.gtld-servers.net
Name server 8 m.gtld-servers.net
Name server 9 f.gtld-servers.net
Name server 10 k.gtld-servers.net
Name server 11 i.gtld-servers.net
Name server 12 j.gtld-servers.net
Name server 13 c.gtld-servers.net

Am I doing something wrong? I'd really like to get this up and running.

Repeat after me, 1and1 sucks.

Usually domain propogation takes 24 hours, sometimes 12 hours (with NameCheap.com)

Good luck, you're going to need it 🙂
