There is a pizza place(name eludes me) near where I live that makes the pizza fresh in front of you (think subway style kinda) and then they wrap it and give it to you raw with baking instructions and it comes with the sheet to bake it on at home.

I tip them simply because they will add extra anything while making it at no cost and let you kinda supervise the creation to get it however you want. Also it is cheap in comparison to the other local pizza places and it's easily the best tasting pizza in my area.

No. Noticed for a few years now that they always put that tip line on their receipts. Pisses me off. When they deliver, I tip. If I'm just picking it up, their tip is built into the price of the food and there's not really any service aspect to it.

Unnecessary paranoia.
What makes you think they don't already do that?

Good point. One of my friends worked in the back at Little Cesars and he was a sick fuck even though he didn't know who was ordering the food. It could have been his own mother, for all he knew.

Scenario #1:
You drive to a restaurant and sit down for a meal. The waiter takes your order, places it with the kitchen, brings your drinks, silverware and food to the table. This person makes $2.00/hour and deserves a tip.

Scenario #2:
You drive to a restaurant to pick up an order. The waiter took your order over the phone, places it with the kitchen, brings your drinks to the counter, sacks your food and silverware and brings it to the counter. This person makes $2.00/hour and deserves no tip.

That's what you guys are saying?

No. . . of course not. So much for the old adage of there being no such thing as a stupid question. Or maybe there are no stupid questions but if that's the case then I guess the world is full of inquisitive idiots.

In a nutshell.

And I hope you arent using the $2.00 an hour salary as an argument. Thats the kind of logic that has us giving more and more free handouts to people every year and I am fucking sick of it.
The only reason I tip at all is because the economy sucks and people actually need the extra help these days. My problem is: Because of the economy I dont have much money to go out and do stuff anyway.

Then fight to apply the minimum wage laws to wait staff.

No thats not what they are saying. The fact is that at pizza shops usually the person working the register is making at least 7 or 8 bucks an hour. Also the drivers are making a similar amount plus probably a delivery charge and tip from the customer. This is fair since they are putting wear and tear on the vehicle plus having to buy gas and insurance.

It annoys me when I feel pressured to tip for takeout from a person who works behind the register and hence, is making at least minimum wage. If they want to make 10, 12 or more $$ per hour they need an incentive to get a better job. Not tipping them is that incentive.

I have, at least once in every state I've lived in. Believe me when I tell you politicians dont give a fuck about my opinion. Which is weird, because I'm white, male, straight, and aged 25-49. You'd think they couldnt get enough of me.

Anyway, I seriously hate that its fucking legal to pay less than half of minimum wage based on the assumption they should make it up in tips. Tips are not required and they would need an aweful lot of them just to get by. I have a huge problem with that whenever I get a favorite place to eat and start to talk with the wait staff. I always feel like they're being abused and it should be a crime.

Umm FYI even if they are a server they are going to make minimum wage no matter what read about it. It's law and in most states they make minimum wage anyways. I don't tip just to tip. If they are doing just what is in their job description no way am I going to give them something extra for doing what they get paid minimum wage to do. Tipping means you did something extra cus it's extra money. No one just deserves a tip. Oh and do you tip at McDonalds or Burger King or your local Subway or Chinese place? They do the exact some thing as well. Tipping is so overdone in this country it's retarded.

I admire the fact that you are sympathetic to the plight of waitstaff but generally servers do pretty well. The fact is that they are putting between 15 to 20% of the gross receipts in their pockets for showing up and driving food sales in the restaurant. Thats more than what the average restaurant's profit margin is (usually less than 10%)

Tip IMO is for service beyond making the food. Why would I tip for pick up?
