If you owned a company, what are some things that would be in your code of ethics?

i think, if i owned a web company, i would make it part of our constitution never to have banner ads that flash 5 times a second. no pop ups either.

well, i'd probly give the Enron COE a skim, then maybe hand out copies and say "do the opposite of everything in this book"

People don't put that on their sites for fun. If they can afford not to have it, they won't have it. Or if they're greedy bastards and want the extra bit of money, then...

I once took an ethics class and got an A. I had my girlfriend write my papers and I cheated on the final. I just can't shake that feeling that I missed out on something. Oh well.

1)I wouldn't write people up and fail to give them their seniority raise because they passed out and went to the ER.

2)I wouldn't fire someone for taking their kids to the doctor.

3)I wouldn't allow someone with projectile vomit to make food.

All of these have happened at the McDonalds I worked at. The 1st and 3rd were me. lol.

Seriously, I'd treat my employees fairly and realize that owning a business isn't *just* about making money.

I'd take out life insurance policies on all of my "high risk" employees. Muahahahaha.

Actually, I would have free drip-brewed coffee. None of this "syrup + water = crap" nonsense that lots of places have (including my employer). It does wonders for morale.

The ones that IBM used to believe in were pretty good.

Respect for the individual, customer service, and excellence.
