notice how the silver is wearing off around the base and where i rest my middle finger on the second mouse buttons...

I've had it over a year now, and it has played countless hours of FPS, in fact all kind of games, and at least 8 hours a day minimum being used normally for IE/Word and windows stuff.

I don't have a particularly sweaty paw usually...has this happened to anyone elses's Mx700?
 
Looks like mine's just starting to, that or it's just smoothing out from the original slight texture. And yeah, awesome mouse.

maybe that's just dirt/ grime, have you tried wiping it off? 😛

yeah, its definitely the silver wearing off, and smoothing out the slight texture like Gurck said i think looking at it more closely 🙁
 
I have the MX500, same problem. I've had it like, 3 years now or so, awesome mouse, it's just wear on the paint or something. I've tried cleaning it, it's wear and tear 🙂

From what I understand, things like that are one of the side effects of using paints with even the slightest bit of metallic content. The small bits of metal can't seep into the plastic to make it hold color like most other paints can and will eventually wear off.

Oh well. As long as it's working right, you're good to go.
 
my mx500 is the same, I just ordered me an mx700 too. i fully expect the same logitech quality out of it. also, the feet on my mx500 are gone!
 
Dug, enough with the mx700 comments... if you hate it so much, I give you permission to get a new mouse 😛

EDIT: oh, and no... after a couple years mine still looks tip top.
