I'm in the middle of a debate with my friends who have bad MS Natural Pro keyboards. It seems that a certain run of these keyboard are defective and should be replaced by MS no change. 4 out of 5 of my friends with the model number X04-71795 have gone bad in a 3 month time period. But I've been using mine which is a X04-51763 for over a year with not a problem at all.

Can owner of this keyboard look on the bottom and post their model and if they've have keyboard probelms or not. If yes, when did you purchase your keyboard?

Thanks everyone!

Ok, just to clarify, this is the Pro model right? With a two USB ports builtin to the ergonomic keyboard?

if the keyboards dont work, RMA it with microsoft. unless you have the OEM version, you cant RMA that (oem is only usb, no ps2).

my original natural pro keyboard worked for over 2 years, i bought it the day they came out in the stores... i damaged the membrane with a very bad spill, and replaced the membrane with one from an OEM keyboard. it would have been 3 years in 3 weeks or so...

and how are the keyboards defective? did your friends spill anything? have they cleaned the motherboard at all?

Doh!

Bozo,

I must be the one next in line at the register.

I've had mine for about 3 years & still going strong (I use it for about 10 hrs/day).

Pro, yes, but the older models didn't have USB ports.

Hmmm, I think you all are confusing the Natural Pro with the Natural Elite. Anyway, no big deal. I've been talking with Microsoft regarding the problems with the other keyboards and they said after checking their system my friends probelm seem to be a fluke. They refused to replace them as they say they can't find that part number in their system... Likely story!

Anyway, I'm pretty unhappy about this...

um, how?

how can we confuse the natural elite with the natural pro? the elite is not usb. and has the stupid cursor layout... the natural pro has the layout of the original ms natural keyboard, but with usb, hub and all...
