Is there anyway to make the F1 keys already on after a computer reboot instead of having to turn them on each time?

Thanks!

I tried forever and gave up. Switched back to my MS keyboard because it was driving me nuts

I have the cordless elite, and I turned the function keys on once and they have stayed on, I never have to turn them on each time I boot. Go figure.

I have a Logitech Elite (not cordless) and I don't find that to be a problem at all. Is it really that hard to press the 'F-Lock' button? When I boot up my PC, I push the button once and forget about it. I don't see how this can be a pain in the ass to have to press it.

Crazy glue. Open the keyboard and short the contacts on the F-LOCK.

You should only need to depress the "F-Lock" key on first bootup if the PC has been switched off, even if you reboot after or reboot more then once, the F-lock key should still be locked on(speaking from my own Elite Keyboard experience).

excuse my inaccuracy, when i said restart, i actually meant to say cold boot :p for instance, after fuddling with your computer's insides and then needing to set it properly in the bios

edit: also excuse my inaccurate spelling of inaccuracy

i have the Logitech Access keyboard which uses the same feature with the F lock key... i find that this is the only disadvantage of the keyboard... it is really frustrating always having to remember to press this button...

let alone, when you are doing something using a program and need to use the F keys while needing to use the hotkeys at the same time, you always have to toggle the f lock key on and off..this is probably one of the major reasons on why i got another keyboard that has the buttons separately.. i do use this keyboard for gaming though cuz i like the way the keys are setup..

I too have the elite keyboard and have run into this problem several times while gaming, if you forget to press the f-lock button it can make you lose the game (had this happen with several that the f keys were needed) but another annoying detail i noticed while gaming is that the keys have their own auto repeat, so you hold down a key and it keeps pressing it for you, this is very annoying with games where you have to hold a key down to use somthing and it keeps pressing the key rather then holding it.

i have the logitech access keyboard and i hate it too... that's the only disadvantage to this keyboard.. i hate the fact that i always have to toggle it on and off.. especially when playing some mp3's and using some applications.. they require the F keys and sometimes you wanna switch songs.. so you always have to remember to push the f lock button.

I guess I must be alone in the world in that the F-Lock doesn't bother me. every time I boot up my PC in the morning, I immediately press the F-Lock key and thats the end of it. When I need to use the shortcuts on them I depress it then hit it again after I am done using them. I really don't see how this is a pain in the ass, considering it only takes about half a second to push it down. Another feature I find extremely useful on that keyboard is the 'Go' button (next to the cool wheel and back button) and the 'User' button. I use the Messenger/SMS and E-Mail buttons probably 15 times a day as well. I love this keyboard...it tends to be such a convenience for me (note: I only said ME, not everyone) that whatever might annoy me by taking an extra second out of my life to push the F-Lock key doesn't really matter after all the conveniences.

There isn't a problem with the keyboard Shiva. If you want to be able to use your F1 key defaults, then all you have to do is press one little button upon a boot up. Or you'll be lucky like some of us and not have to.

Ardan, I think the problem people (including myself) are having is remembering to press the F-Lock key, not thinking that it's some huge out of the way hassle...

Like someone said, it can cause you to lose games. I play alot of Warcraft 3, and the F buttons quick select your heroes...so when one of my heroes is about to die, and I try and quick select them with an F key, if I forgot to press F-lock, that hero is dead, and there's a good chance I'll lose the game because of it.

Perhaps logitech should thinking about releasing some new software that lets you set whether you want it on or off by default...and at least including that software in their next model.

Other than that though Shiva, it really is a great keyboard. Very convenient, I love the mp3 controls on it, and it's also very thing and comfortable, not to mention sleek looking.
