If you own a car that is not fuel efficient.......

Well?

We like to bitch & complain because gas prices are going up in North America but when you look at world prices of gas........ we have it pretty cheap.

So what price level would gas have to be for you to say "screw it........ I'm getting a fuel efficient car"?

Cheers,
Aquaman

My car gets 30mpg or so on the highway and my commute is less than 5 miles each way. It'd take a lot to get me to trade.

Now if I had one of those horrendous soccermommy SUV things, I'd have traded long ago.

I get 30mpg city 48 highway........... but if gas went up to 5-6 a gallon....... I would consider getting something more efficient.

Cheers,
Aquaman

for me it was $2.15. hybrid here i come

if it hits $3.50 where I live and stays there my next car will most definitely be a Honda hybrid...(probably will be anyway)

My modified Mustang V8 gets about ~23-24mpg on the highway, and around 18mpg around town. The car also need premium because the smaller combustion chambers on the GT-40 heads raised the compression.

That being said, the car has been awesome to me over the past 12 years I've had it, and I'll never replace it if I can help it. I'd probably just drive a lot less...

I can't get 18mpg out of my 89 mustang around town with its 3.73 gears. Mine gets closer to 14 but still pulls off the 23-24 highway. Been thinking about getting a miata and slapping a turbo/supercharger on it but probably won't. I live 3 miles from work and have a van that gets a little better city that I drive back and forth to work in most of the time anyway.

If gas hits $4/gallon, I think that people will start rioting.

I use about 120 gallons of gas per month. At $4/gal, that's $480/mo. That would kill me.

The new C6 Vette gets better mpg than half the vehicles on the road today. My dad's 330ci gets 15-22/29 mpg (depending on his mood/how late he is).

I am already pay the equivelent of $3.50 US a gallon 🙁 But we are in better shape then most placees in Europe & Asia 🙂

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus as the family car now. The wife and I trade it back in forth for work. But I'm getting a 30+ mpg car soon since I have a longer drive into work. So already for me it's time to buy a gas mizer. I only buy 2+ year old used cars so I sould be able to pick one up for 7 or 8 grand.

Wow, gas is $1.11/L in Vancouver? That's crazy. In Toronto It's around $0.90/L ($2.83/Gal), and in Waterloo about $0.95 ($3/Gal).

Luckily I don't have a car. 😉

Well........ it's kind of wierd. 1.10 is the top price as low as 99.9 but the local stations have been doing something they picked up from Calgary......... they are actually charging 3.5 cents less at the pump so 1.10 is actually 1.065 and 99.9 is actaully 96.4.

We have the frigging highest gas prices in Canada 🙁 All because of taxes & levys from the GVRD (Great Vancouver Regional District).
