Show up later. If you're at a party where nobody knows you but a few, you have to rely on them to at least get you introduced. If you only know him and he is the focus of the party, he probably won't have time to introduce you to anyone else.

That is why you show up later when everyone is good and drunk and will introduce themselves to you!

i'd go late, let everybody get a couple drinks in them. Then just go find an interesting conversation and meet new people.

i'd go as early as possible and get tanked up. if you show up too late, everyone will already be in there groups and it will be harder for you to get in. if you go early enough you can hang out with the host first and sort of meet everyone as they come in.

you wanna be there as early as possible, best to be the first one there, that way, the host will introduce you to whomever show up next, they will then introduce you to the people they know, pretty soon everyone at the party will think that you are a popular guy that know everyone at the party. you need to be very out going to pull this off thou.

Go early so you can help the host... this then allows you to meet the first people and get into talking with a few people, which will help you with the rest. Its more difficult to talk to people if there are a lot of people already there.

Good luck!
