My reasoning: More air will circulate through the case because this new fan will bring air into the case while the old PS fan will pull it out, resulting in better air flow...
Dont expect a dramatic improvement unless ur doing some drastic case mods like a blow hole or something in the front. Chances are the fan is barely gonna be able to suck any air through the factory designed vents.
Amd says:
"Use an auxiliary exhausts rear chassis fan, suggested size of 80 milimeters or longer, the fan intake should be near the location of the processor"
and
"A front cooling fan does not seem to be essential. In fact in some extreme situations, testing showed these fans to be recirculating hot air rather than introducing cool air "
I agree with TJ69, have the front fan blowing inwards so it's working in unison with the PSU fan. You might also consider modifying the bezel to enhance airflow, if it's restrictive.
for all those guys telling him to stick it in the back, he said he's gonna stick it in the front, and if you have it blowing out in the front, it won't do anything, better having it blowing in, unless he mods his case
you want to create very even airflow. If you have to much air blowing in, and the exhausts are not enough, then you simply mix the air(this raises ambient temp). If you have to many exhausts, it will drag air thru every nook and cranny in the case, and this leads to dust build up all over
A general rule is the temp spread between ambient case and cpu should be 20C or less.
<< He can't. He said it only has one fan mount. >>
I never heard him say that he wasn't capable of making one in the back.... it's not like it's hard or anything.
/me wanders if this is infact the cases and cooling forum, so well known for dremel brandishing hacks? 🙂
