Personally, I hate wallets. I refuse to carry one (ask my wife - she has to call the banks every 6 months or so to get new debit cards for me because the stripe gets worn off.)

I've been stranded "in the middle of nowhere" before - I live in the middle of nowhere. It's pretty simple: walk or hitchhike until you're no longer in the middle of nowhere.
