When that oil slick hits the Gulf Coast, you can expect black tar prawns for some time to come. :'(

Is that really going to affect the shrimp, though? I mean, all that oil is just floating on the surface, I thought shrimp lived near the bottom? Or does it just mess up their ability to catch them?

A lot of shrimp is captive "farm raised" and a lot is imported from Asia and South and Central America. I doubt there will be any serious disruption in the global supply.

The price will go up. It's a knee-jerk reaction. Just like gas went up $.20 a gallon here about 10 minutes after the oil rig caught fire, even though it would take months for that oil to get into the gas pumps after refining....

Not just the shrimp, the oyster beds and the other seafood resources will be harmed by this disaster.

I feel bad for all the marine life this will be affecting. I saw an article this morning about how there are many otter and pelicans in the path of the spill.

I don't think the shrimps like to swim around the surface. As long as they pull em up in a clean spot, I'm happy

Yes, BP better have a big check book. This is going to cost them big time.

And BP is lobbying Canada to waive the safety valve requirement for their arctic license. Harper better not give them that carte blanche.
