If you like Meshuggah

I love meshuggah. A guy a grew up with loves them eve more than I do, and they are by far his biggest musical influence. Well, he just got word that his band gets to open for Meshuggah when they stop here in St. Louis (pops in sauget). I thought I would share their myspace page so you all that like meshuggah can check em out.

I recommend Demon's Incarnate as the first listen.

Nashville Suicide Mission

Is math metal music that follows really weird timings and beats? Like Meshuggah?

And to some extent, Tool?

yep. tool is barely math metal but they do use weird timings. dream theater and meshuggah are the defination of math metal.

math metal is very complex, technical metal, along the lines of aforementioned Mehsuggah and Dillinger Escape Plan. Very high-speed, technical music.

OP- thanks, I'll check them out when I get back to my dorm.

Never heard of them. Are they similar to DEP?

I was saddened last weekend cause I saw Gigantour and thought Dillinger was going to be playing, but they didn't. The show kicked ass though 😀

By DT, you're referring to Dark Tranquility? Sorry, not really up on Dark Tranquility or Gigantour. Isn't that headlined by Dave Mustaine? IMO, this year's Ozzfest has the best lineup compared to Gigantour and Sounds of the Underground.

Yeah, I've heard one of their songs. Good stuff...I don't recall the name and I don't have any spare cash to buy one of their albums. They have a new one coming out, or recently released? Anyway, I hear Catch Thirty-three by meshuggah is good. I might look into that. But, I'm kinda considering the newest Fear Factory album coming out.

Octavarium by DT is their newest and imho most mature effort. It's called "Octavarium" for a reason. Catch 33 is different, but good ol meshuggah. is the new FF cd out yet?

I think I saw on Headbanger's Ball that it's coming out the 20th, or maybe 23rd of Septemer. Somewhere in that area.

Between the Buried and Me reminds me more of Opeth than Meshuggah. complex, certainly, but not for the sake of complexity.

Fall of Troy worth checking out? allmusic.com has pretty much nothing on them
