If you input the incorrect window key code during installation

It sounds to me like he has multiple keys, and put the wrong one in. It is still valid so it accepted.

Other than that, sorry I can't help ya =(
 
Well, just run a repair install and enter the "right" code, keeps everything the same, just refreshed some files.
 
I just rerun it, its a corporate edition. I just used the wrong machine key (the pretty sticker thats always hard to get to and see) for the machine. Just being save, and lazy looking for a short cut 😛
 
You will have to modify/delete some registry key and windows will pop up the activation wizard on reboot which has the option to change the key.

Edit: Dunno if it works for the Corporate edition though. That version doesn't has the activation stuff.....

oh come on, let's address the real issue here: the warezed key you been using has been blacklisted and now your Windows updates do not work, and you are wanting to try a different key to see if it will work. You might try looking for other ways around it.
