If you hit a tree on the side of the freeway...

At what speed would you have to be going in order to die instantly, assuming no seatbelt. Say a 1994 Camry, or a 2000 Nissan Quest.

I assume you are referring to the death of the driver, not the person strapped to the front bumper.

really depends where you land when you go flying :p

and where the tree hits the car, etc, etc..

my recommendation would be to find a car similar to those in some PC game, such as Grand Theft Auto... do a few trials running into trees, and then approximate the speed of the car when (more like if...) you die.

that should do it.

Heh - If it's video game physics I would change my answer to: you wouldn't be able to die from a tree b/c you would obviously shoot it w/ a green turtle shell before you hit it.

without seatbelt ur chance of dieing is quite high even at low speeds, it depends on so many factors u couldnt say a speed. It is easier to estimate a certain death speed belted....

I'd say an immovable object like a tree wouldn't require too much speed for death on impact... but assuming head-on... probably just under 30mph.

So sad to think about it, isn't it? We know what kinds of cars his family owns... now to just get a hold of their contact information to warn them...

Too many unknown factors, but I wouldn't recommend using the scientific method on this problem.

I had an incursion with a telephone pole going 30-35MPH in a 1987 Sundance. I hit it dead-center of my car.
If you're right, then I'm posting this from the grave.
BTW, I walked away from the accident uninjured.

It is impossible to make a reasonable answer to this question. Let's just say try not to hit trees and poles.
