Well being as I gotta start looking for a school soon, I was wondering what you guys/gals have done. I am thinking about going to RIT or Alfred State or Colgate to get my IT, and then maybe after I get a decent job start taking some classes on some of the MCSE topics, and eventually get certified. First off, should I just get a bachelors or should I go for the masters in IT? I would really like to become a network administrator, so I am not sure if the IT is even fully necessary. But I do want to expierience college and such and I know the IT can get me somewhere.

Also, what are some other good schools for IT? I am in Rochester, NY, and would like to be reasonably close, but not too close;)..... no more than say a 4 hour or 5 hour drive.

So basically just tell me how you went about getting your degree or certification and tell me what you think my best route to go about it would be.

Thanks in advance, and please correct me if I have any of this mixed up.

Definitly get your bachelor degree first. Cuz the technology is change as we speak...you can never know what will happen tomorrow. By the time you get your Bachelor degree in like 3 or 4 years. We might not even be using windows anymore. Linux rules!!!

I have yet to set foot in a college. I have a MCSE+Inet,CCNA,and CCNP, working towards CCIE. I am 21 and think I am very successful thus far. It may be different for you though. A degree does make up for a lack of experience, but most companies want experience now. Degrees and certifications make up for a lack of experience somewhat from what I have saw. Just my $.02 overclocked to a dollar :)

Hello HydroStream6, Novell exam really requires hand-on in order to pass the CNE as they have quite a bit of simulation questions on Admin, Adv.Admin.

Yes I got my CNE5 this January. :)
