OMFG:Q, after reading the petition I just realised that I was having the problem too. My computer would freeze sometimes and I was blaming it on my board but now it did it again and I checked the log only to find the nv4 thingie. That's what I get for leaving my trusty Radeon behind.

I have definitely encountered the problem (in Windows XP). Come to think of it, it also caused a problem with my dvdrom starting videos with the VIA miniport driver installed in 2k. I imagine that the companies involved, especially NVidia, are working hard to solve it, as like the petition states, it has been posted up and down every forum for a long time. That petition will definitely reiterate to them that consumers are sick of it. Thanks for posting the link.

Email the link to anybody you know that has had the problem and post the link on any other message boards/newsgroups, etc. you can think of.

The viaarena.com forums have been on fire with infinite_loop issues. Check there if you're suffering also, as there are people there working on it there like crazy.

They claim it's a PS issue, which I disagree with.

"Link doesn't work for me"

Be more specific please!

Does it error out? Does it timeout? Netscape or IE? etc etc

I had the Nvidia Infinite loop error once with 23.11 drivers however the 23.12 WHQL have solved the problem for me so far 🙂,you can try the normal things like slower ram speeds , AGP 2x etc & trying different drivers, this has worked for some people .

This problem should be directed at Nvidia and Microsoft only! It has nothing to do with VIA etc.... It all has to do with Nvidia creating these crappy drivers and Microsoft approving them! I will also state that this is just my opinion and I base it on my the fact that my system was stable with Win XP with anything below the 21.83's ! Microsoft should have never appoved these drivers and put them on there site! It is Nvidia's job to support VIA's motherboards along with others! There is no reason for them to be releasing mass amounts of drivers that only work well with there newest chipsets! I beleave that VIA etc.. should sue Microsoft for the approving of the crappy drivers and putting all the blame on others! In all reality I beleave that this is a tatic for nvidia to steal away a good share of the motherboard market! Think about it all they are doing is releasing all these beta drivers that are totally screwed up and you silly lab rats are installing them and then blaming your motherboard manufactures for the problems! Im sorry if I offended anyone with this post but Im sick of hearing about this!

You think the 21.81s were the best?

Hey wait a minute, I wasn't saying anyone in particular is or isn't the cause. I was just pointing out how funny it is when I company puts out a help file loaded with propaganda like the above document.

Hell, I got hit with this bug as well. I put it to bed by just not overclocking my card at all, and running my CPU at a slower speed. Is this what I'd like to be doing? No. Of the three parts (XP, GeForce3, 266a) which one am I eliminating from the loop (no pun intended) ? Nvidia. I got a Radeon 8500. I'm not particulary biased to anyone, but I do like my Epox 266a a lot, and I need windows (sadly) for certain apps.

I used to have problems with those 23.xx drivers, so I installed the leaked 27.xx drivers and all is well. No hit taken to my 3DMark scores, using the 27.50's.
