PC World Headline reads: Sony Ships Sneaky DRM Software
Music giant uses spyware and virus writers' techniques to prevent unauthorized music copying.

According to the article, this is pretty much an open invitation to unauthorized access to your computer and possibly, not just by Sony

In the article, there is a *free* url listed to a removal tool. Read it...you may need it more than you might know.
(Hint: look for "uninstall directions")

I searched for Sony and did not find any info on this.
Just what forum would you recommend?
If this issue involved me, I'd consider it "pretty hot".

I had just found them...I had mistakenly limited the search to HD instead of forum-wide.
OK
MODS, please delete this or close it or move it...

Whoa, the thread in P & N has turned ugly...

I hope this becomes a public relations nightmare for them. Intrusive implementations of anti-piracy features such as this make people MORE likely to download illegal MP3's.

That's how all threads in PN turn out. Don't feel too bad about posting this in the wrong spot. The search engine has been on the fritz for a while so even if you had searched correctly, you may not have turned up anything. Also, those 2 other threads are also in the wrong forum.

I don't have time for the other forums so I don't mind see stuff like this here. Thanks RideFree.

Yea, I'm with the other guys. I usually lurk here. I thought the other forums were for people looking to boost post count.

Zephyr,
Thanks for alerting me to the search engine frazzle. Turns out that's what it was. It really surprised me to not have had a single "sony" hit on my search so I thought I had simply run it against HD by mistake. Such was not the case. There is no egg on my face. Turned out to be an omlet. :D:D:D
PS Thanks to the rest of you who turned up in support. :D:D:D

The search function is fine and has been for nearly a month. Both the OT and the P&N threads as well as this one show up in a search for "Sony".

I mainly stick with HD, so thanks. Hey, it will save you some money not buying Sony CD's! :)
