If you have netflix, do yourself a favor and watch "Ip Man"

It's available on HULU too!!(Chinese with English subtitles) just watched it.. and it is a really good movie. Recommended.

I agree with the OP. IP Man is one good movie. I felt silly calling the movie "I.P. Man" when in reality it's "IP" as in "Lip".

Ip Man was pretty good.

But don't bother with Ip Man 2. It's the exact same movie but with subtle changes. Location is now Hong Kong instead of Guandong and now the bad guys are the colonialist British oppressors instead of the colonialist Japanese oppressors. It was amusing though to hear the white people in the movie though. I don't know why but all white people are practically charactures in Hong Kong films. They all have atrocious accents when speaking Cantonese and when speaking English they speak loud and slow. Maybe all the Brits always talked very condescendingly to the locals.

Great part of history for martial arts fans that don't know who Ip Man is too...no, not really historically accurate, but maybe it'll get people to read up on the guy. 🙂

there's an ip man 3

Oh Jesus, really?

Now they have been doing a bunch of Ip Man stuff since the first came out. There was a pseudo Ip Man movie that came out I remember seeing advertisements for. But I'm not aware of a third Ip Man with Donnie Yen.

I like how people say he lead to Bruce Lee's training. But based on his Wikipedia page, he only opened a dojo (or whatever you'd call it) to support his opium habits. So would you say that opium gave us Bruce Lee? 😉

I did myself a favor once, for which I was completely ungrateful. I never even thanked myself. Never again.
