I've got a Radeon 8500LE clocked at 250/250. I can overclock it to about 265/265 before I start to see artifacts. Currently, it plays Planetside, Unreal 2, and Splintercell fine at 1024x768. Now, what course of action do you recommend I take or will you take if you have an 8500? I think I have about every choice I can think of listed on the poll. If you don't post a response, I would appreciate your vote. Thanks -Will

If I had an 8500 right now I'd wait for the NV35 and if turned out to be unacceptable then I'd get a Radeon 9800 Pro.

I'm waiting to see what's next. My 8500 (OC'd to 300/300) runs everything I play right now. Once the new round of games get close (e.g. DOOMIII, Deus Ex - Invisible War, Half-Life 2), then it will be time for the big upgrade.

I'm waiting until I see "noticeable" slowdowns in the games I play. I'm an RPG buff, and all of the ones I've played recently (NWN, Morrowind, IWD II) played great at 1024X768 or above. Even the FPS games I play still run fine at 1024X768 at medium to high quality settings. I used to be a "6-month upgrader", but it's just too expensive staying on the cutting edge just for bragging rights. I'm older and wiser (and poorer) now, and for the most part, I've learned to quiet the voices that keep telling me I need to upgrade.... BUWAHAHAHA!

I'm going to hang onto my card for now and see what the R400 and NV35 have to offer. If I see a 9700Pro for less than $200 though, I might not be able to resist. Peace.

I'm using a retail ATI 8500 right now. I really like it and it certainly seems to take whatever gets tossed at it. I'll look into it when DoomIII, DX2, HL2 are on the doorstep.

I've got a Radeon 8500 (275/275) and a RadeonLE in my systems. The only games I play are flight sims (mostly IL2) which run just fine on these cards at 1024x768 32 bit.

I have no plans at present to upgrade, as there's no real need and times are tough!

I have an 8500LE 128MB that I reflashed the bios to make it 275/275. I'm going to hold onto it until I encounter a game that it won't run very well.
