My D600 got pretty hot charging the other day I really thought it was going catch on fire. The red battery light was blinking indicating it was too hot.

I chatted with Dell Support tonight to figure out whether or not my girlfriend's laptop was affected by the recall. The representative told me that starting tomorrow, owners can go to http://www.dellbatteryprogram.com and punch in the PPID located on the battery (yes, you have to take the battery out) to see whether or not yours is being recalled. I assume there will also be instructions there for sending back the defective battery and getting a new one.

Hey, I just wanted to make sure that people wouldn't stare at the bottom of the laptop wondering where this ID was. :p

There's a battery recall link on the bottom of dell's site right now, just nothing there yet. I'm sure mine'll be affected...joy.

I LOVE DELL!

My 700m's 8 cell battery is a little over a year old and doesn't hold it's charge.

I was going to order a new battery off eBay for $50 + $20 shipping. Dell just saved me $70 and it couldn't have happened at a better time

yay, my X1 doesn't count (although it does get kinda toasty) probably since it's a Samsung laptop to begin with :p

Interesting... I have a latitude D600 that the mobo literally caught on fire... an awesome three weeks outside of the warranty. Wonder if this can somehow get my lappy fixed?

They already sent my mom a new charger, since the old one had the same problem. They said to throw the old one away ASAP.
