If you had your choice between a NEW MODEL car in the 30K range...

or a restored to like new condition car from the 60's or 70's, what would you choose?

Personally, I would MUCH rather have a old car any day!

well as far as safety and technology are concerned, a newer car any day.

for unparalelled classicness, an older car anyday, but not for a daily driver with today's drivers out there on the road.

Definately a new car. I've yet to find an "classic" car that I think looks good.

hummm, I feel the exact same way about the new cars. 😉

Being that you're old enough to be my father, that makes perfect sense.

No question or hesitation:

A 1968 or 1970 Dodge Charger R/T with either a 440 six pack or 426 Hemi!

(the 1969 model is OK, but they had a "split grill" that year that i just don't think looks as cool as the full "blackout" ones in '68 and '70.)

Are you insinuating that he had sex with Monkeys?

I think driving a restored car would be awesome...for a few months. But I'd start missing those modern amenities pretty quick.

Mainly platypuses, but not ruling out monkeys, apes, or other primates.

i love old cars. (had a 68 Barracuda and a 75 Duster) but today if I have $30k in cash, I'd put it towards my house and by a $3k beater to drive.

Hey!

You don't want your monkey nailed, don't let it dress so provocatively. 😉

Depends what you mean by restored to like new condition. Let me put it this way, if I had a choice between a brand new 60s - 70s car and a brand new 2004 car, I'd take the 2004 car. Now if the 60s - 70s car was restored with all the creature comforts of a 2004 car, then I'd probably take that.

ANother thing to consider is that a restored Car would retain it's value or even go up in value if it isn't driven into the ground.
