Would you rather spend the money on fully loading a lower model, or get the higher model, but with little to no accessories.

For example, you could get a top-end Nissan Ultima, or a base-model Nissan Maxima

I'd go for the goodies over the higher model.

I would agree. I got the mazda6 (low level sedan, but most of the bells and wistles) and love it!

i'd probably go higher end - many will have all the accesories on the lower model, or even outstrip it.

for me - used luxury sedan + motorcycle FTW

I'd go with a decked out low-end model. It might not be a powerhouse, but I would be happier in a comfortable car that has anything one would ever want.

Many high end models are already loaded - part of the reason for the price. I'll take that.

yep. you can't polish a turd.
besides, what's the point of tarting up a basic car? it defeats the purpose of basic. i wouldn't consider any car at any price that didn't incude things that were extravagances a couple years ago, i.e. power everything, 4 wheel discs with ABS, A/C, et cetera.

but for the case of altima/maxima, the difference isn't much... maybe the maxima has slightly better interior and that would be all.

actually for the years 2002-2003, the altima had a more advanced platform than the maxima.

id buy used high-end if you just want to put up some arbitrary limit. my ex financed an aveo last year for about $13K (ugh)

my brother spent half that on a '99 Cadillac el Dorado and i can tell you which card *id* sooner drive. or even just take a nap in ;)

he he he I don't know why anyone would get an aveo or similar car. The tires are so narrow and small, and its a narrow body. I also like the sporty suspension of the 6 over the greater horsepower of its competitors.

I don't understand those kinds of purchases at all. I assume it's just so the person can say they bought a new car. That's a good chunk of Kia sales, as well.

WHat is wrong with a cheapo Kia for a commuting car?

If you must buy a new, buy barebone high end.
If I were you I'd buy a beater, motorcycle, motorcycle gear and the rest of the money invested.
Or if I should spend all, rest of the money in used luxury sedan (BMW).

not really, when my sister was looking for a new car she looked at a wide range of cars and things like 3 series came with almost nothing and cost more at base price then other cars that were loaded

The base price for the "low-end" Maxima is 28k... you can buy a fully-loaded high-end Altima for 32k. The 3.5SE Maxima is pretty much the same price as the 3.5SL Altima (both being brand new), so I don't know if that's a good comparison.
