If you had to choose between this or this which one would you choose?Please state your reasons shortly. Also I am not 100% sure but does the BFG have VIVO?
 
9700Pro without doubt. It will outperform Fx5900 by a significant margin with AA/AF enabled and it has much better DX9 performance.

Gaming only? 9700 Pro
Gaming with VIVO? 5900
Linux? 5900

I agree with lifeguard that I'd change my decision depending upon the use of the card. For Linux, price, if you need VIVO or you plan on displaying your desktop in 2048X153 I'd go 5900. But to be quite honest I made the same decision and decided to get the ATI version of the 9700Pro off of ZipZoomFly (price drop to $209 this weekend, only $5 more than a powercolor card and will give you better support and higher re-sale value) . It IS faster and I'm not all that convinced of nVidia's dX9 performance as of yet, and since I mostly play games on my home machine I FINALLY bought a non-nVidia card (excluding 3dfx, for they will always be dear to my heart).
