Do you think you would be genuinely sad over the member of a forum disappearing or leaving, knowing that you would never have a conversation with him again? Let's say that it's known that he's in perfect health and will have a great life outside of your little internet link, so that it's not like you have to worry about there being anything wrong there, but with that link severed it's kind of like the person being dead to you in a sense. Doesn't necessarily have to be on this forum or any particular person, but anyone that you gained a lot from in conversation and feel like you had a meaningful contact with.

"Sad" is a little strong, at least as a chronic condition, but there's members here and elsewhere would/do miss when they cross my mind.

Uh... anyone on a forum that I ever wanted to have any sort of "meaningful" relationship with beyond just reading their occasional posts - I have their email address, IM handle and/or phone number.

So no.

So no.

Imagine if those people chose to be anonymous and had no known internet presence outside of said forum.

No, it's a fucking internet forum.

Off the top of my head there are at least 3 posters who I wouldn't mind chatting with again but I won't lose any sleep over it.

No.

I feel that most people aren't even themselves when on-line so why even give a thought to the absence of a fictional character.
