If you had irrefutable proof Jesus did not exist, what would you do with it?

This question was posed to me. I thought it was provocative enough to ask here.

Post it on anandtech for sale/trade, im sure someone from ATOT would pay a crap load of money to post a troll thread on the topic.

seriously, religions aren't meant to be proven anyway. proofs are for science, which in itself a kind of religion.

That can't happen. The believers will just make up some excuse to justify the non-facts.

I think the title of this thread is incorrect. What you meant to say was "If you had irrefutable proof that Jesus was not the son of god, what would you do with it?"

I would publish it myself, under my real name.
Any personally negative consequences of those actions would just prove my reasoning behind doing so: the fact that some religious people are nutcases.

It would either be that or extorting everyone I could. It would take me an hour or two to figure it out.

I would destroy it, least Christianity fails leaving muslim extremists to rule the world. Its like the worst of two evils.

Based on this revision, I would go public with it. I hate deception. Although, what would count as "irrefutable" evidence?

tough call. i would want to go public, but i'm sure you could bag a hell of a lot of money selling it. but religion would still exist, just not christianity, unless people chose to ignore it, which is possible. so I think I would sell it

I'd post it on ATOT

Where it would get flamed to hell, locked, and then forgotten forever.

I think RichardE's remark is thought provoking ..

I also think that people who I consider the "Bad Christians" (i.e. the ones who can't think for themselves, and are all about proselytizing and banning sex toys) are fundamentally corrupt failed human beings, and that the particular religion they choose to cloak their failure in has little bearing on that fact.

As such, disproving the basis of Christianity would do nothing to eliminate these disagreeable people. It's not like you can show them a written proof and they will shriek and spontaneously combust.

On the other hand, if experimentation showed that they DID spontaneously combust, I would send multiple copies to all the wire services :p

nothing. faith is synonymous with ignorance.

truth is relative. do you honestly think christians would honestly drop their belief and cease to exist?

this applies to all religions, not christianity in particular.

we are all ignorant, whether you worship science or religion, when lacking evidence and facts.
