You should build a random pinwheel for keydown. What this does is generate a short sound just before one speaks. Instead of the beep this sound is played. Think farts, belches, etc.

Bonus points for having cameras near the speakers catching people's looks when they hear it.

hmm ... this is painting a very different ... picture? ... of our beloved Rubycon. "Sinister" comes to mind ... not quite the word tho. "Creative" is in the list. Influencer of tender young minds.

Perhaps Maytag, as in agitator.

But you mission impossibled your way back in and you have a secret exit plan that is fool proof.

I suspect they would have removed him, piece by piece.....

I would play pieces of the audio track behind the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie... I wonder if the chainsaw and screaming noises would scare people, or if they would realize right away that it was just the PA system ...

If you want scare you need element of surprise and dynamic range. It's like the dishes in the galley effect. Everyone stops talking briefly and looks around when they hear dishes crashing to the floor. A long sound clip ruins that effect. You need bursts and clicks. An Alfred Hitchcock style scream would also get things riled up a bit. ;)

That said this would be scary to hear at 3 in the AM.
