More specifically, a Sony Clie N610C (one of the nice color ones), only with a cracked screen. Sony says it's not under warranty...costs $150 to replace the LCD.:(:|:Q:confused::eek::disgust:

3 options:
[*] Buy a new one (whole PDA)
[*] Replace the screen at the absurd price
[*] Stop using a PDA altogether

I know not good options :(
But broken screens are kind of a major issue..there's no easy solutions :frown:

The first one isn't such a great vouch.. because aren't the Clie's up to around 4-500 dollars? Just shell out the cash if you're going to just need the LCD replaced... Good luck w/ it .... the LCD does make up a great portion of the PDA, and when you come to think about it, it's quite important to replace it, even if you feel as if it's "absurd" - damn you sony!

I'm not so sure that $150 is such an "absurd price." After all, doesn't a color Clie cost more than $150 more than the B&W Clie?

I'm with the others. Paying $150 sounds better than paying $400+. Heck, I've gone through two windshields on my 98' Tachoma and had to pay more than that each time...

For $200 palm devices 100 bucks isn't worth it, but if you're only paying 20% of the entire cost to replace the screen I'd say it's worth it.

it's easy to think "Oh I can just get a new one" but you have a fully functioning one you probably like already, and you can save about 3-400 bucks if you just fix it.

or find somebody with the same PDA and it's damage and not under warranty
buy that damage PDA from the guy, and find somebody to replace the LCD screen for you

It ends up being about 40% of what I paid for it. Sony was supposed to send me a box to send it back in about a week ago, but I still haven't received it. Stupid glass screen....why can't this be under warranty?! The screen still cuts on, just the glass layer is cracked. People say it looks like some1 shot me and i used me Clie to defend myself. lol

Well, did it break due to some negligence on the part of Sony... Or on the part of the user?

ok ok i know it can't be fixed under warranty. I was going up stairs and my Clie wanted to meed the railing. Needless to say it wasn't a very happy friendship.

$150 isn't *that* bad -

...bite the bullet - replace the screen.

Climb stairs without using the Clie as a crutch next time :D
