Im about to buy a new setup (mb,ram, and cpu and cooler) but im not sure what do buy. I was thinking about the msi turbo (whenever it comes out) a tbird 1.2Ghz (hope to push it to 1.35 maybe 1.4) and 2 x 256mb of ram capable of running 150Mhz cas2.

Any better setups??

ddr ram is pretty cheap. any good boards for that and will it make a difference???

i would appreciate some input

DDR is well worth it. there are no boards OUT now as far as i know. wait a month or so if you want DDR.

otherwise, that setup seems pretty good.

KT133A motherboard - $150
Duron 800 CPU - $70
Radeon DDR - $109
SB Live 5.1 - $70
Case - $70
256 mb of ram - $80 outpost
19' monitor - $220
Keyboard + mouse - $60
12x DVD - $70
12/10/32 burner - $180
IBM 75GXP 45gb - $120

I dunno this total is less than $800

Judging from the initial post, you're willing to wait. And if you are willing to wait, seems to me like you already have a good setup in mind.

Personally, I would go with a new Abit KT7A-Raid with the class 'C' TBird and some sort of extreme cooling solution. The class 'C' TBird being one of the 133MHZ DDR FSB chips. Class 'B's are only 100MHz (the DDR on B's I'm not sure about).

About DDR boards... the Asus A7M266 should be out... my local dealer (in Denmark) claim to have it in stock.. not sure if it might have hit europe first though.
