A house, paid in full. I'm sick of renting, and it seems like I'll never break free.

explains your anger....

I'd just throw a bit at my home to pay it off, some debt and enjoy the rest.

$250k is not enough really for me to change anything, but it'd be fun just to blow that on something I normally wouldn't buy.

Probably $200K to house, and $20k for a used, large-sedan hybrid something (I need >28MPG city)
Then $25K into investments...and $5k for fun stuff (new HDTV...and that's it). Gee I actually end up with $3.5K lying around. Guess that means I really have $28.5K into investments.

explains your stupidity....

Look up home prices in the 07430 zip code and you tell me how many houses there are in your price range, pal.

30k would go to paying off the lot we bought.
50k would get broked up over a couple years in put into Daughters 529 plan(college IRA).
$9k to pay off wifes car.
$15k to pay off mine.
$85k would go to wife's student loans.

Additional $60k would get ate up in a probably a sub $15k truck and paying out of pocket costs for the new house.

Sadly nothing really life changing short of freeing up maybe $1000 a month in debt.

$50K would pay off my house.
Probably $100K toward kids' college fund just to make sure we'd never have to worry about that again
$20K for a new car for me

The rest would probably go into savings to serve as a vacation fund, etc.
